I love rummaging through the plastic binds at a thrift store. I have found some awesome items buried under all the junk. Like these two ping pong paddles. There were two at .99 cents each. Read on to see how I repurposed the ping pong paddles.

Repurposed Ping Pong Paddles
The first order of business was to remove the rubber off the paddle itself. Luckily, it peeled right off.
After I removed the rubber, I sanded them lightly with 220-grit sandpaper to remove any adhesive that might have been left behind.
I decided I did not want to go with the traditional orange pumpkin. To tell you the truth, my craft paint stash did not include orange paint. Therefore, I had to improvise. I decided to use black, buttercream and camel.

Painting Paddles
For my first paddle, I applied two coats of black paint.
After the paint dried, I distressed around the edges. I used my dabber brush to apply dots using my camel craft paint.
The second paddle followed the same process. I used Camel for the base and Buttercream for the dots.
Adding Raffia and Raffia Bow
I took three strands of raffia and tied it around the bottom of the handle. The raffia bow was attached using hot glue. These were from Hobby Lobby.
This thrift store project cost less than $5.00. I have two unique pumpkins that I can display, and the fun part, they have a story behind them!
